Welcome to the Windham Foundation. I hope that you enjoy learning more about us and our subsidiaries by exploring our web pages. As you move around, you will find that we are Vermont’s largest private foundation situated in the spectacularly beautiful location of Grafton, Vermont. For nearly 50 years, the Windham Foundation has been preserving and enhancing the social, economic and cultural vitality of Vermont’s small communities and rural way of life, especially within and around Grafton. In addition to our various philanthropic programs, which are described below and elsewhere on the web site, the Foundation operates the Grafton Village Cheese Company, The Old Tavern at Grafton, Grafton Village Nursery and the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro. Each has its own web page where you can obtain more detail. The Windham Foundation has helped many young people attend college assisted by our scholarships, provided millions of dollars in grant support to Vermont communities and organizations and has been a major force in helping explore critical issues and shape public policy through our Grafton Conferences. Additionally, our historic preservation work, allied to its natural beauty, has allowed Grafton to become one of the “1,000 places to see before you die.” While we hope that the web site provides you with the information you are seeking, if you need additional information on any of our programs, please contact us.
