Food Connects
Warehouse Expansion Project to Increase Rural Food Access
Food Connects is a rural non-profit distribution organization, supporting Vermont farms and promoting economic vitality. Their mission is to cultivate healthy food and farm connections in cafeterias, classrooms, and communities. They have 3 main program areas: Food Hub, Farm to School and Catalyst for Change.
The warehouse expansion project is part of the Food Hub program. It includes retrofitting a new 10,000 square foot warehouse in Brattleboro with cold, frozen, and dry storage facilities to provide additional storage space for local farm producers and small food businesses.
The Windham Foundation awarded $10,000 to support this effort to increase rural food access.
