Partnerships
The Windham Foundation partners with organizations in Grafton and around the state to develop new opportunities for shared learning, community development, and meaningful connections.
The Grafton Historical Society and University of Vermont Historic Preservation Program
Guided by the theme “Exploring a Sense of Place,” the Foundation and the Grafton Historical Society hosts graduate students who are learning the historic preservation profession. Students visit Grafton to tour historic buildings and gain insight into the complex challenges rural communities face: balancing caring for historic properties with economic development, environmental concerns, and sustaining vibrant community life.
The Grafton Outdoor Alliance
The Foundation is a member of the Alliance, and is the fiscal sponsor for its planning grant from the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative. Other members include the Town of Grafton, the Grafton Improvement Association, the Nature Museum, and the Grafton Outing Club. The Alliance was created to apply structure to the shared goal of enhancing outdoor recreation amenities and services in Grafton. In 2025, it produced the Grafton Outdoor Recreation Master Plan.
The Snelling Center for Government/Vermont Leadership Institute
The Foundation was an initial funder for the Snelling Center in the 1990s. Each year the Foundation is pleased to host a residency of its Vermont Leadership Institute, a premier leadership development program that supports emerging leaders from all sectors across Vermont.
